Very You gel polishes are formulated to ensure long-lasting wear for up to 21 days (3 weeks), and often even longer! The key to maximum durability lies in proper nail plate preparation and precise application. However, we recommend refreshing your style at least every 4 weeks to prevent breakages caused by the shifting centre of gravity as your natural nails grow.
Gel polishes do not damage the nails on their own, provided they are applied and removed correctly. Very You products are formulated in compliance with European cosmetic standards and are free from harmful toxins such as formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. Most damage to the nail plate occurs due to:
- Improper removal (peeling or picking off the gel).
- Over-filing the natural nail plate during preparation.
Always remove your gel polish gently using acetone or a professional nail drill.
We recommend using 48W or 60W LED lamps (with a wavelength of 365–405 nm). These provide the optimal curing time for all Very You gel products:
- Very You Base & Top Coats: 30 – 60 seconds (minimum)
- Very You Colour (thin layer): 30 seconds
- Very You Colour (thicker layer, neon shades): 60 seconds
Gel polish lifting or chipping is almost always the result of application errors. Check these key points to ensure a perfect finish:
- Improper Preparation: Did you thoroughly buff the nail and dehydrate the plate using a professional cleaner?
- Flooding the Cuticles: Getting polish on the skin is the leading cause of lifting. Ensure there is a tiny gap between the product and your cuticles.
- Thick Layers: A layer that is too thick may not cure properly. It’s always better to apply 2-3 very thin coats.
- Unprotected Free Edge: Always remember to "cap" or seal the very edge of the nail with your base, colour, and top coat.
There are two main safe methods for removal:
- Acetone Soak-Off: Start by buffing the Top Coat to remove the shine. Apply acetone-soaked cotton pads to the nails for 10–15 minutes, then gently remove the softened gel using a wooden manicure stick.
- Nail Drill (E-file) Removal: A precise and gentle method using a professional drill. The gel is carefully filed down, leaving a thin, protective layer of the base coat on the natural nail plate to prevent damage.
Very You Base Coat is the foundation of every manicure. Its primary role is to increase the adhesion of the colour to the natural nail plate, ensure long-lasting wear, and—in the case of our builder bases—strengthen and even out the nail surface.
Very You Top Coat is the final step. It is designed to seal and protect your styling from scratches, chips, and fading, while providing a perfect high-shine (or matte) finish.
They are not interchangeable! A base coat must provide excellent adhesion to the nail, whereas a top coat is formulated to be tough and resistant to external factors.
Yes, Very You gels are fully compatible and work perfectly over nail extensions, whether you use hard gel, acrylic, or acrygel (polygel). In this case, a hybrid base coat is not necessary – simply buff and cleanse the surface of the extension, apply your Very You colour, and finish with a top coat.
Very You regularly introduces new collections inspired by the latest trends in the world of fashion and beauty. Currently trending:
- The 'Clean Girl' Aesthetic: Delicate beiges, milky pinks, and subtle nude shades (e.g., Very You Take a Break).
- Seasonal Colours: High-energy neons for the summer, and deep burgundies or forest greens for the autumn/winter season.

Wrinkling (often called "shrivelled gel") is a sign that the polish has not cured properly, which can often lead to skin allergies. The main causes are:
- Applying layers that are too thick: This is the most common mistake. A thick layer blocks the UV/LED light, meaning the polish only cures on the surface. Always apply Very You colours in very thin coats.
- Insufficient lamp power: Your LED lamp might be too weak or the bulbs may be old. Ensure your lamp is at least 48W.
- Incorrect hand placement: Thumbs and the edges of the nails often sit in the "shadow" of the LEDs, leaving them under-cured. For the best results, cure your thumbs separately.
